Corporal Daveon Lloyd Hall
The untimely and tragic death of Corporal Daveon Lloyd Hall has created a void in the hearts of thousands of coworkers, friends and family, and the children he mentored. As a result, the organization Daveon L. Hall Foundation was founded to continue his work for community service and for the mentorship of children.
Daveon Lloyd Hall was a remarkable, ambitious, hardworking, kind, competitive, and very loving human being. Up until his untimely passing he had a very successful career as a law enforcement officer within the Miami-Dade Corrections Department, working his way through the ranks to earn the rank of corporal. Never one to settle for mediocrity, Daveon was always looking to expand his horizons, and so he also became a certified police officer, and was also well into the process of becoming a certified firefighter.
Daveon was an adventurous and free spirited soul who brought joy, laughter, sincerity and kindness to everyone he met and interacted with on his journey through life. Daveon truly and passionately wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. Despite his busy and often unpredictable work schedule, he found the time to spend countless hours coaching and mentoring underprivileged and marginalized youth, both in his beloved game of basketball, and in the often cruel game of life.
Many of these young people did not have the good fortune of having a male role model, or even a parent in their lives. Daveon’s double-pronged approach to working with these kids consisted of working to prepare them to fulfill their individual athletic potential, while simultaneously and consistently emphasizing and cultivating a strong work ethic, discipline, and good character. It must be noted that one of his mentees, Dewan Huell, was awarded a full basketball scholarship to the University of Miami (UM).
